Why should I join the SAIMC? Membership of the SAIMC provides many benefits to the individual as well as to the patron organisation. Some of the most important of these are:
Status: The member enjoys all the respect and recognition of being associated with a body such as the SAIMC. Self-development and education: Through the multitude of Institute functions, from branch meetings to exhibitions, the member has the invaluable opportunity to develop both technical knowledge and understanding of applications. Expert know-how and practical advice are available at all these functions and are shared without regard for competitive barriers. Personal contact with the industry: The SAIMC provides an ideal place for meeting potential suppliers, customers, employers and even employuuees from the most senior captains of industry to learner technicians and apprentices. It also provides an opportunity to see new technology on plant tours. A communication platform: Members wishing to communicate locally with industry, whether to resolve application problems, launch new products, coordinate official reaction, spread format training or even to simply obtain some feedback, can use the SAIMC as a useful vehicle for this communication. Local and international contact with other professional bodies: Through the SAIMC’s constant contact with outside professional organisations, both locally and overseas, the spreading of new information and the coordination of joint activities is facilitated. Contribution to the changing environment: Your active participation is vital in order to gain both maximum benefit from your involvement and also contribute to the changing environment. And remember, your annual membership fee is tax deductible. Through its affiliation to the Assocation of Scientific and Technical Societies (ASTS): SAIMC members can register with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)and will benefit from reduced renewal fees.
